Greetings Friends & Fellow Laborers,
As I was listening to one of Bro. Tolbert's messages, he spoke of John in the beginning of the book of Revelation, how even though John was being exiled to the isle of Patmos, he was praying and worshipping God on the Lord's day. I find myself, first of all, not given to praise, but fussing and complaining to the Lord. Christ said, "Count it all joy" when faced with these trials and temptations (James 1:2). I imagine that Bro. John was making a good thing out of a bad situation. Also, in Bro. Tolbert's message, he said that John was praying right, but looking wrong. As we are today, praying for the answer, but looking toward the world for the solution. It should be, "Lord, we look to you, we put it in your hands. You (Christ) are the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2)." We should not look to this world for our solutions or for our problems to be solved by man.
Christ is the only hope for mankind. he is our all-and-all. "Christ in us, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27)." We have to remember, "To live is Christ, to die is gain (Philippians 1:21)."
We don't gain anything here. We're just servants for the Lord here, our gain is in Heaven. Like the song says, "All to Jesus, I surrender, all to him, I freely give. I will ever love and trust Him, in His presence daily give. I surrender all, I surrender all. All to Thee, my Blessed Savior, I surrender all."
A few days ago, one of our brothers in Christ and dear friends, went home to be with the Lord: Bro. Fernando Reyes, who was the Director for the School of Christ in the Philippines. We had been blessed to work with him for over 20 years. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with the Reyes family.
As of right now, we are still supporting 37 pastors and 8 mission works around the world. It is truly amazing what God can do through a vessel that says, "Yes, Lord, I'll go; Send me." All of you, our supporters, have made this possible and Bro. Tolbert and I want to thank you for letting us be your hands extended to the mission field.
Like Bro. Reyes, who has gone home to be with the Lord, I'm sure there are many other soldiers of the Cross that have gone home, but the work goes on, in spite of losing friends and loved ones to terrible sicknesses and other mishaps in life. Let us continue to pray for this nation and all nations around the world.
Like Paul says in Ephesians 6:10-11, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
In His Service,
David & Judy Tolbert
